They thought rock was fox. Natalie’s contingent broke loose, rushing at the rolling rock. Staunch Charlie, built firmly and fully packed, bit his lower lip and threw all of his 110 lbs. into a tug of war. His hounds toppled him onto his stomach but could not break his grip. There went Charlie, with rosy baby cheeks and grimly set mouth, Iragged by a straining team of rampant hounds, over a sea of fallen leaves. For no mean distance, rock, hounds and Charlie went scudding and bouncing down the hill. Everyone, limp with laughter, eft the mountain to the idmirable gray fox.
FINALE Sunday, November 18, Bill Fannon, considerably subdued, was riding all over Flappahannock, this time in his itation wagon, looking for lishorse. Bill’s bay, found Bill’s enthusiasm so contagious, he umped out of Marshes’ paddock where he had been put for a little rest after the day’s hunt. He wanted more chasing. Not until Sunday late afternoon, was he found by the sharp eyes of Jack Bruce, in Trooper Willis’ Sperryville Pike pasture, where he was calling on some ponies. N.B. Mrs. A. C. Randolph was quoted recently in the National Observer as saying, “It takes all lay to do two things: to have a baby and to go foxhunting.” In Rappahannock Hunt territory, :t seems to take two.
