On Thursday, November 28 a Thanksgiving Day Service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington, at 10:00 a.m. This is a community-wide service, a combined effort of the Episcopal, Methodist and Baptist Churches in the area. A cordial invitation is extended to all the people in the county.
Jaycees Award Prizes
John Miller, Jr. of Culpeper was the winner of the Remington shotgun which the Rappahannock Jaycees gave away Friday night. The old Virginia ham went to Roy Lee Knighting of Castleton.
The shooting matches continue each Friday night at Ivy Hill Tea Room on Route 211 between Washington and Sperryville, Va. under the sponsorship of the Jaycees. A special shooting match is scheduled for Wednesday night, November 27, Thanksgiving Eve. Prizes offered at this match will be hams, turkeys and oysters. The public is invited to attend.
Minor Traffic Crash Monday in Amissville
A minor two-vehicle crash occurred Monday night on Route 211 in Amissville. According to Trooper W. A. Buntin, a 63 Comet station wagon operated by Robert Buck Smallwood of Fairfax and a 68 Corvette operated by Loren Frank Ghiglione of Washington, D. C. were involved. Smallwood was making a left tum into a service station as the Corvette attempted to pass. Damage to the Smallwood vehicle was estimated at $50 and to the Corvette at $500. There were no injuries and no charges were made.
