High stepping Amissville society, leaning tenderly on the arms of their Ruritan escorts, touched off the club’s brilliant dinner program last Wednesday evening. In what has become the outstanding premier of the local holiday social season, the members provided their ladies with a delightful combination of good entertainment and excellent food.
Hie dinner menu, planned and served by the Baptist women, included a complete and delicious turkey dinner from cranberry sauce to pumpkin pie with whipped cream topping.
Tastefully decorated with garlanded light fixtures and twisted streamers, the hall offered a warm atmosphere for the occasion, enhanced by a large sign at the speaker’s table, reading “Welcome Ladies”. ~ v> Traditionally, Ladies Night is a combination swan song for the outgoing officers, presentation of club awards and a time of levity and fun. Returning president B. Settle was Master of Ceremonies and kept the program moving at a lively clip. A door prize drawing resulted in Mrs. Jerry Curtis winning an electric frying pan. Prizes were giver the tallest lady attending, the youngest and the oldest. A fourth prize was available for the heaviest, but when the scales were produced she kicked the contraption under the table and thus the club retains
