Ronald Tavenner of Wheaton, Md. killed a 300-lb. black bear on the land belonging to Frederick McCleary (formerly the Wood orchard) on Tuesday. It was checked and ^weighed at McGeary’s Mountain store.
Mrs. Maybelle Gilkey, Mrs. Iva Williams, Mrs. Marcelle McNeill, Mrs. Lillian Fox and son Allen and Mrs. Minnie Kreisher were in Winchester Wednesday. Miss Kelly Gilkey spent Wednesday with Miss Melody Williams in Front Royal. Mrs. Minnie B. Williams returned to her home Thursday night from Warren Memorial Hospital, where she had been a surgical patient for eight days. She is improving satisfactorily.
