Seasons Rummage
Sales Clear $800
The rummage sales which are held in the spring and fall for the benefit of Washington Fire Company and Rappahannock Rescue Squad have cleared $850 this year. Mrs. W. B. Jenkins assisted by Mrs. Mary Burke and Mrs. Charles Burice operated the rummage sales each Thursday and Friday during the months of May and September.
Mrs. Jenkins expressed hei appreciation to all who have made donations and all who have patronized the sales. The sale: were extremely successful and al merchandise was sold so Mrs Jenkins reminds everyone to save their castaway items for the next sale in the spring. Any useabk articles will be appreciated.
Tony Layman at the piano and Terry Terhune conducting, the music was gunned in with a roaring rendition of “Old Suzanna.” Mrs. Julie Davis and Mrs. Dottie Settle tore both the audience and Old McDonald’s Farm apart in their duet. A quartet composed of Rev. Charles Kindred and Si O’Bannon, both Baptists, and Rev. Tony Layman and L. J. Davis in the Methodist section, left “Home On The Range” in complete ruins. Charlie Priest tenderly sang “Drink To Me Only With Thine Eyes” to his wife and the celebration ended on a lusty and patriotic note, with the entire group joining in “The Star Spangled Banner.”
