Mild weather brought out more than twenty area residents Sunday who assemble at Sperryville for a hike up Hawksbill Mountain on Skyline Drive. Tlie group met at the school yard then reduced transportation to three vehicles and drove to the Hawksbill parking area. From there they began the ascent to the mountain top.

Mr. Johnson, Forest Warden, was leader of the group. Mrs. Barbara Gentry, methodical as usual, had her small satchel which contained a thermos of coffee and some sweet tidbits for quick energy. Mrs. Mary Cleverley carried one of those healthy snake whackelrs you see advertised occasionally by the Village 'Shop. 'Hiis, however, was needed only to assist her in the climb. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nichols and sons Andy, Curtis and Douglas, all seasoned campers and hikers from their scouting activities, completed those from Flint Hill attending.
Joe Kemper, Forest Warden from Prince William, furnished entertainment with his wild tales and witticism and Whit Hudson of Washington, who enjoys a walk up town every day, almost outwalked us all. Mrs. Kileen Day and three youngsters Lisa, Maureen and Johanna of Sperryville were well-booted and
