According to surveys of the area made by independent consultants the college is expected to enroll approximately 1,900 full and part time students! within its first two years of operation. It will offer the samej types of programs being given in the 11 community colleges now operating m the State’s Community College system: university-parailel and college-transfer, occupational-technical, adult and continuing education and foundation programs.
State of Virginia and matching Federal funds will be used for construction and equipment. The region served by the college is responsible for purchasing the site and for site development,
Dance at Sperryville
A dance is scheduled for Friday, November 29 at Sperryville fire hall from 9 until 1. Music will be provided by Bill Bailey and the Skyline Boys. Admission is $1.60 per person. Men must wear coats and ties and ladies will not be admitted in slacks.
Bromfield Parish Ladies Business Luncheon
Hie Women of the Church of Bromfield Parish will hold a business luncheon meeting on Wednesday, December 4 at 12 noon at the parish hall. A financial report of the House Tour and Sale will be given with discussion of the dispersal of funds. Lunch will be served promptly at 12 o’clock to accommodate members who work.
Sperryville Troop 65 Takes Weekend Campout
Hie Boy Scout Troog_ 65 camped out over the “jjttst weekend at Birds Nest Shelter No. 3. Hie campers were Charles Grigsby, C. B. Johnson, Jr., Frank Coffey, John Lloyd Jenkins, Bill Stokes, Bill Kilby, Chucky Jenkins and Tommy Woodard.
Hie boys faced many dangers - flying candy at 3 a.m., scoaring snowballs from lingering mountain snow and the presence of hungry pack rats. The Buck Hollow Trail leading back home was much more like an obstacle course than a foot path due to the fallen trees and broken limbs from the recent snow. *
This group would be remiss if it did not sincerely thank Mr. Jack Wayland and Mr. Elmer Atkins for a timely and restful ride back to Sperryville.
