In the recent meeting of the Amissville Ruritans, plans were revealed for the activities and menu of the Club’s annual beef barbecue to be held July 5. TTie business of the evening followed the fine chicken - potato salad dinner served by the Homemakers Club of Amissville. Other plans included a fall horse show, to which the speaker of the evening was able to contribute from his own experience with 4-H groups.
As chairman of the Barbecue, Charlie Priest set up the request for homemade pies and cakes| from member’s wives. Charlie! didn’t get himself involved, but if all of the lemon pies are as good as those of Mrs. Elwood Dean, the public is in for a real treat. Pony rides for the youngsters and prizes for the lucky parents are part of the program.
The Little League Baseball team, under the leadership of R. B. Settle, was reported to be in full swing. The team lost a well-played game to Marshall last Saturday by a score of 5-3. Chairman Settle of the Recreation Committee advises he was well pleased with the performance of the Amissville boys against the more experienced team.
