This coming Monday, June 30, at midnight, your current hunting and fishing licenses will expire. Don’t get caught short if you are going to do any fishing or hunting soon, or at all this year The Clerk’s Office now has the new licenses on sale. Also available is the new game luw summary for 1969-70. July 1 is the beginning of a new fiscal year, of course, and hence new licenses. When you think about it though, this is a very realistic time to renew licenses. This is the very wonderful and critical time when wildlife is, itself, being renewed. Be sure to buy license enough to cover your year’s needs. For Instance, a county license is fine if you are sure you won’t leave the county. That is just money gone if you later decide to hunt out of the county and have to purchase a state license. If you are not sure of legal residency, check on that before buying a resident license. Remember there is no refund on licenses after purchase. For fishermen a three-day license is available to both residents and non residents for $1.50. These are not good in trout stocked streams. Again, buy the cheapest license to which you are entitled, but be sure it covers what and where you will be fishing or hunting.

As wildlife renews itself, the best thing we can now do is stay as far away from the young family as possible. It is a great temptation for young people tc pick up young birds or animals 11118 must be discouraged. II usually leads to the death of the animal sooner or later. When il dies, or must be taken away, il usually leads to tears and hare feelings It is very much againsl the law to molest the young of i wild animal or to hold one it captivity. Wild animals appeal tc us because they are wild. Keej them that way.

Landowners should be carefu right now about disturbing wildlife habitats, and motorist jmust beware of “youngsters” ir the road.
