For Concerts

Residents of Rappahannock will have the opportunity to become members of the Culpeper Community Concert Association if they hurry and join before May 23. The opportunity has been made available through the organization of a community concert group which encompasses five counties and includes Rappahannock. These counties, Madison, Culpeper, Orange, Fauquier and Rappahannock, are uniting in the effort to bring outstanding artists to this area. Subscriptions must be entered before May 23.

Mrs. James P. Jamieson of Woodville has consented to serve as membership chairman for Rappahannock and will be assisted by Mrs. Ralph E. Smiley, Mrs. I. L. Parrish, Mrs. P. Lee Thornton, Mrs. E. N. Montague, Mrs. Mary Botts Quaintance, Mrs. W. L. Wake, Mrs. James F. Massie, Mrs. Elmo Flynt, Mrs. Mary S. van Brederode, Mrs. William Lyne, Mrs. James W. Fletcher, Miss Judy Burtner, Mrs. Rayner Snead, Mrs. T. J. Pillar and Mrs. Arthur Miller.

Three concerts are planned for the coming season which begins in November with duo-pianists Whittemore and Lowe. February will bring the Romeros, Spain’s first family of guitar. In March a talented trio of versatile young artists, the Columbia Operatic Trio, offers a program of song. All concerts will be held in Culpeper High School auditorium. Subscription rates (three concerts) are as follows: adult membership $10, student membership $5; family membership $25; single head of house and family $15. For further information call Mrs. Jamieson, 987-8200. Community Concert groups have been very successful in nearby areas, and a family-oriented association of such high standards can only serve to add to the enrichment and pleasure of those concerned.
