In Matthew 7:6 we find these words; “Do not throw your pearls before pigs, they will trample them under their feet and turn and tear you in pieces.” Well, I’m no authority on pearls, but I do know a pig will attack a person; I have a scar to prove it. I didn’t throw it any pearls, either. Now we know that a pearl is a gem and very valuable, so the Master must have used an analogy. We hear of pearls of wisdom etc., rhetoric in poetry and prose; could he have meant that you must not waste your better self on those of a base nature? Swine to the Germans is an invective comparable to the one we some times hear, accusing the offender of belonging to the canine species on the maternal side of the family. Pig is a common term used by certain groups in referring to law enforcement officials. Now don’t you think that the term would apply more aptly to those who will not even let the President of these United States speak uninterrupted. Maybe they do not like his pearls; OINK OINK!
Some maintain that most politicians are dirty. That is they constantly put over dirty deals that benefit themselves, and to h— with principles and their constituency. Back-scratching? I heard of one who was so dirty that when his back was scratched, the one who scratched got dirt under his finger nails right up to the quick. What a mess.
While we are speaking of the pork family; how about a slice of ham and red-eye gravy on your morning grits? Yum yum. And highly seasoned sausage? And don’t forget those chitterlings!
When God, in His infinite wisdom, created the world He must have thought pigs had a place here. But pigs are not of the human family. When some one throws out a verbal pearl, let us examine its value, accept it 01 reject, but listen - a more worthy one may follow.
