Dear Mrs. Latham,
That picture in the October 29 NEWS showing Washington, D.C. over Washington, Virginia must be"' a trick photo shot. No one would list the two “cities” together... even for the purposes of directing traffic. The Virginia Highway Department has a lot to learn when it comes to telling people “Where to go.”
As one ol’ mountain man to another, believe me, Washington, D.C. will never replace the clear blue skies of the county and the nice people you meet on the streets of Washington, Virginia. “Jim” Skeens and company should correct their mistakes...A SAP.

May I use the columns of your good paper to urge the citizens and property owners of Beautiful Rappahannock County NOT to let the Electric Power Line, as proposed, slash thru the God-given loveliness of our land to leave a horrible, permanent, tree-killing gash of inerasably scarred landscape, ugly gibbet poles, or monstrous steel towers, defacing and profaning our blessed mountains and valleys. . And automatically pulling down our land values. It is vital that all citizens watch ; for the notice of the public 1 hearing which the Rappahannock I Planning Commission is1 rescheduling. Look sharp, as1 these kind of notices are usually 1 in fine print and not prominently I displayed in the newspaper. But1 DO plan to take your part in this 1 public hearing, when the date is ' published. It is well to note that there is a 1 great new cry going up from * people everywhere about land I Invasion and misuse.
