H.S. Barksdale, Chairman of the County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation (ASC) Committee, reminded farmers installing practices under the 1970 Agricultural Conservation Program (ACP) that work must be substantially completed on or before December 3l in order to be eligible for payment under the program. "It’s in the law,” he explained. “If a farmer doesn’t finish his ACP work by the end of the year, the County ASCS Office can’t make the cost-share payment.”
Commenting that Wlntm weather is just around the corner he said that in past years it ha sometimes prevented farmer from completing theii conservation cost-sharin| practices. “WE hope it won’i happen thisx year,” he said ii urging that farmers concentrate on completing their practices a soon as possible.
