Having known the sons for several years 1 had no reason to question the validity of their statement. 1 did not notice at that time that he was not properly dressed as his jacket(military) was fastened; due to the inclement weather this did not seem out of order.
After removing his jacket it was brought to my attention that his shirt was loosely hanging from the waist. At this time, he was asked to tuck his shirt and after borrowing a belt this was done. The fact that the young lady appeared and the date did not materialize was no cause for alarm as everyone attending was enjoying the evening.
