Harry Wight's Marvelous Melvin bested Randy Rouse’s Free Movement in the owner-rider Ben Venue to atone for his mishap at Casanova last week.
A field of nine greeted starter Robert Palmer and his new starting equipment, a red and white rocket type tape container and starting gong. At the bell, they were off and running up the hill to the first of the ten fences in the 2-1/2 mile course with Free Movement and Marvelous Melvin going to the front, closely followed by Quorum Call, Top Raider, Sun Castle, Acrospire, Badge of Honor, Zoomer and Half Smoke.
