LET ME LIVE unloved, unknown
Unlamented let me die;
Steal from this earth and not a stone
Tell where I lie.
Because of the affluency of his family, I imagine the stone that tells where he lies will be an imposing one. He might have been unknown in one sense of the word, but he was not unloved. We all lament his passing. Why then the above verse? It just seems to fit his retiring nature. One would scarcely notice him being around except that children were drawn to him. He was a lovable person.
His nickname was Peck; I don’t know why. In my fancy I go back to when he had young children. Maybe someone was trying to teach a child to say: “I love you a bushel and a peck, and a hug around the neck,” and the child couldn’t say anything but peck. But I am sure it loved him bushels and bushels.
After his wife passed on about a year ago he seemed so. lonely, he seemed to be listening for a call. Perhaps the Father joined her in the call and he went back home. The Christ said there is no marriage in heaven, I hope there is an exception made in this case.' Would it truly be heaven if we were separated from those who made earth a heaven to us? Let’s go up there and see for ourselves. □
