Burke died December 3, 1972. A native of Culpeper County, he was the son of Mrs. Dissie Burke of Falls Church and the late Athea Burke.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edna Wharton Burke; two sons, Ricky Burke and Roy Burke; four daughters, Carolyn Burke, Edna Mae Burke, Connie Sue Burke and Dale Burke, all of Castleton; a brother, Nathan Burke of Arlington; and four sisters, Mrs. Pearl McConchie and Mrs. Ida Clark of Falls Church, Mrs. Rebecca Wharton and Mrs. Dorothy Wharton, both of Culpeper.
