A short film depicting land use efforts and successes in Great Britain will be shown at the December 8 meeting of the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection, Inc.
The film on the English experience, entitled “A Future for the Past”, offers insights into how England has attempted to preserve its historic landmarks and green spaces in the face of expanding population and development pressures. The problem of wise growth management, long familiar to Britons, is a new concern to many parts of America, including Rappahannock County.
Produced by the Civic Trust for the Northwest, the informational film is being shown by RLEP to promote ideas and discussion among Rappahannock citizens concerned with preserving the county’s natural beauty and historic heritage.
The 8 p.m. meeting to be held at the Sperryville Fire Hall on Route 21^-just west of Sperryville, is open to the public.
