carnival begins
AMISSVILLE FIREMEN’S CARNIVAL is scheduled for Wednesday through Saturday, August 15-18 at the grounds located on Route 211 west. This four-night event will conclude the carnival season in Rappahannock County.
Rides on the midway are being assembled this week and the grounds are undergoing cleaning and mowing * to be in excellent condition for the festivities. Highlights of the event will be a grand parade Thursday evening beginning at 6:30 p.m. and a box supper will be available at the food stand following it. Good food, drinks and desserts will also be on sale that night and each night.
A queen will be selected and a coronation ceremony will be staged Friday night. Awarding of the grand prize and others will conclude the carnival Saturday night. Prizes include a 1973 Pinto, a portable television and four $25 Savings Bonds.
Funds realized from the carnival are used for the operation and purchase of equipment. The support of all will be needed.□ ®
