(Pete) Luke (U.S. A. F. Ret.) has been named to the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors from Piedmont District following the resignation at Mrs. Betty Coates.
Appointed by Circuit Court Judge R. V. Snead last Wednesday, he will fill the seat until the 1974 November election. When an appointment of this nature is made in less than 120 days prior to an election, the official is enstated to serve until the following year.
Therefore, Col. Luke will serve until the general election in 1974, at which time he will be subject to election. Mrs. Frances Foster, who was appointed Treasurer of Rappahannock County earlier this year, is subject to election this November. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of Robert L. (Jock) Brown of Woodville.
