FESCUE FOR WINTER GRAZING—If you haven’t already done so, now is the time to pull your cattle off your fescue Helds and top dress with 75-100 pounds of Nitrogen per acre. The amount of nitrogen to apply should be determined by the condition of the stand, soil type, and winter feed demand. Good stands on good soils can justify higher rates of nitrogen.
CULPEPER FARM SHOW ROUND - UP—David Thornhill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Thornhill made a clean sweep of the Swine Show. David exhibited the Grand Champion Single, Reserve Champion Single, Grand Champion Pen of Three, Champion Boar and won the Senior Fitting and Showing Contest. David sold his six market hogs for a wopping total of $1,002 to the Culpeper Farmers Coop, Culpeper National Bank and the Shen-Valley Meat Packers.
Donna Cannon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cannon, wound up her successful show season by winning the trophy for exhibiting the Grand Champion Angus Heifer. □
