HAVE YOU noticed the browning trees against Pickerel Ridge, back of Col. E.A. McNear’s home? Most of Col. McNear’s 200 acres of forested land is thrifty, young, and good quality oak and poplar timber; however, the 12 acres of browning trees back of Col. McNear’s home was predominately a stand of ailanthus (also called Tree of Heaven and sometimes confushed with sumac) and black locust.
