COME WEDNESDAY NIGHT, and all the little spooks, ghoolies and ghosties will be out on their trick or treat rounds. Safety officials make the excellent point that on this night motorists have an extra “obligation to drive safely. Youngsters in maskes and costumes can’t see where they’re going, and they’re often so small that motorists have difficulty spotting them in the dark. Let’s all make certain Halloween night is not a night of tragedy, and all be extra careful if we have to drive.
Which bririgs us to a larger question, one having to do with something quite different from happy youngsters bent on a fun-filled evening of innocent merriment. We’re talking about that peculiar, dangerous type of individual which police reports and newspapers refer to as “vandals.” „
Rappahannock County has had some distressing experiences with these individuals recently, and we certainly hope that Halloween isn’t taken as a “cover” or as an “excuse” for more of the same.
We would think that by now individual farmers and homeowners, and law-enforcement officers, are pretty well alert to whaC could happen, and will be well prepared to deal with any incident. Wouldbe vandals, take warnings
