Church anniversary
THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY of the Washington Baptist Church was celebrated by its members Sunday, at which time a dedication service in recognition of several furnishings was conducted. A large group of members and friends attended the service conducted by Dr. Gary Gruber of Lancaster, Pa. Dr. Gruber recently served the church as pastor for a short time.
Articles dedicated included two brass candelabra, given by the Jenkins family in memory of Walter B. Jenkins; a display case for the old communion silver, contributed by Mrs. Downing Wood in memory of Mrs. Frank D. Wood and Downing Wood; a communion cloth, donated in memory of W. C. Campbell by Mrs. Claud Stickley, and an organ lamp, also in memory of Mr. Campbell, given by Miss Frankie Keyser and Mrs. John Long.
Following the service and dedication, the congregation was led in singing Christmas carols while a sumptious luncheon was laid out by ladies of the church, and then enjoyed by all.L.
