Golden anniversary
MR. AND MRS. ROBERT HETHERS of Flint Hill were honored with a reception in celebration of their golden wedding anniversary on Saturday, December 1. The Nethers received best wishes from about a hundred friends and relatives from 2 until 4 o'clock in Flint Hill fire hall.
Goerge Robert Nethers and Fannie May Lillard were married Saturday, December 1, 1923, at the Methodist parsonage in Front Royal. The Rev. D. L. Snyder was the officiating minister. They have lived their entire life in Flint Hill, where they are members of the United Methodist Church. They attended services there 50 years ago on December 2 and followed that same pattern this December 2.
Mr. and Mrs. Nethers have five children: George Maynard Nethers of Stephens City; Mrs. Charles Robert (Dorothy Nethers) Lewis of Huntly; Mrs. William Clayton (Hilda) Dennis of Jackson, S.C.: Mrs. Frank Daniel (Helen) Coffey Jr. and Mrs. Larry Randolph (Polly) Aylor, both of Sperryville. all of whom were present. Four of their six grandchildren were also present.
Mrs. Nelson Nethers of Sperryville was in charge of the guest book. She is a cousin of Mrs. Nethers and a sister-in-law of Mr. Nethers. A four-tiered wedding cake was served by Mrs. Patterson Biggs of Flint Hill, and punch was served by the four daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Nethers. Many gifts were received by the couple. □
