It was noted that 20 families living on Route 211 between Routes 642 and 703 would have to drive an extra 1.2 miles every time they went to the post office, grocery store, fire house or any of the four churches in the area.
The same would apply to people living on Route 703 in both Rappahannock and Culpeper counties, or anyone in the village who patronized the barbershop, beauty salon, real estate office or restaurant.
