RAPPAHANNOCK’S Supervisors were unanimously opposed at their meeting Thursday to discarding a commodity food distribution program and going to food stamps for needy persons.
Mrs. Elizabeth Buntin, director of welfare for the county, told the Board that new federal rules inspired by President Nixon demand that all jurisdictions adopt the food stamp program by June 30, 1974.
She noted that Rappahannock is the only county in the Rappahannock-Rapidan Planning District still using commodity food distribution, and only one of ten in all Virginia.
