While daily travel in Shenandoah National Park has decreased with the energy crisis, overnight stays have increased. The total of visitors for May, -1973 was 210,000, while this year the number dropped to 187,300, a decrease of 11%.

The visitor tally for 1974 to date is 496,400, while a year ago this date the total was 658,500, a decrease of 24.6%.

Overnight stays this year stand at 115,015 while at this time last year the total was 110,142.
