TRAFFIC volumes on Virginia’s major highways remained down in May, falling 3.8 per cent below the volume for May of 1973, the State Department of Highways has reported.
J. P. Mills, Jr., the department’s traffic and safety engineer, said that despite improved availability of gasoline supplies, weekday travel was down 2.4 percent, Saturday travel was off 8.4 per cent, and Sunday traffic dropped 13.9 per cent.
