SUPERINTENDENT Robert Jacobsen notes that user fees to camp in Shenandoah National Park were reinstated Friday, June 21. Beginning on that date, the Park began collecting a $2 per site per night fee to camp at Matthews Arm, Big Meadows, Lewis Mountain and Loft Mountain Campgrounds. The fee for Dundo Campground is $3 per site per night.
In addition, the National Park' Service has announced that it plans to expand its campground reservation system to include Shenandoah National Park this summer. Jacobsen explained that Park Reservation Systems, Inc., (PRS), the company which will handle campsite reservations in 21 areas of the National Park System, will have telephone service available only for information until June 22.
After that date, telephone reservations can be made for a campsite if the camper has a Master Charge or Bank Americard credit card to which the cost of reserving the campsite can be charged. PRS is maintaining one toll-free long distance telephone number
