Mrs. Wood was born in 1889 at Mt. View in Rappahannock County, a daughter of the late Charles W. and Annie Ford Browning. She was clerk of the Culpeper County Court for 22 years. Mrs. Wood was a member of the Culpeper Business and Professional Women’s Club, the Culpeper Fire Dept, and Rescue Squad Auxiliary, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Culpeper Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter Mrs. Joseph I. Brown of Culpeper; a son, James H. Wood, Jr. of Berryville; one brother, Preston M. Browning of Culpeper; and three grandchildren.
