needed maps to seven. Jim White had come up with the same number, while RLEP recommended 15. But they got together after the meeting, and discussed the maps some more. Then on Thursday morning, Luke, Baumgardner and White agreed on nine maps, incorporating some of those recommended by RLEP.
THE FIRST maps will “interpret” the results of soil studies. Map One will delineate steep slopes and flood plains; Map Two will show soil types and their potential for agriculture (whether they should be farmed as pasture, crop, forest or orchard); Map Three will reflect the physical development capability of the soils; their capacity for septic fields, building sites or future impoundments.
