Sinfonia to play here
THE RICHMOND SINFONIA will come to Rappahannock County on February 11, 1975. There will be two performances; one for the elementary school students which will be held at the school at 1:15 p.m. There will be a night performance at 7:30, also at the elementary school. This one will be open to the public.
“This concert is presented with the assistance of a grant from the Commonwealth of Virginia, administered by the Old Dominion Symphony Council. The concert is being sponsored by the Rappahannock Women’s Club, whose members will be selling patron tickets. Being a patron entitles an individual or concern to be listed in the program and to know that they are helping to bring this marvelous Richmond Sinfonia to our county,” saida member of the local women’s group.
To be a patron the cost is $10 and includes two tickets for the evening performance. The members will also be selling tickets for the evening performance which will be $2 for adults and $1.50 for students. The new, 24 member Richmond Sinfonia, conducted by Jacques Houtmann, is the first professional chamber orchestra in Virginia’s history and one of fewer than ten such small ensembles in the country.□
