THERE IS enough evidence from initial studies done on specific sample counties to justify a continuation of the statewide rate study and Vepco charges evaluation, County Supervisors from Virginia were told last Thursday at the VACO convention in Richmond'. The consulting firm hired to study Vepco rates to town and counties and possible further action recommended the continuing study.
The analyst noted that during the past several decades, counties and towns enjoyed lower electric rates as a “trade off” for providing favorable franchises, easements and lower tax evaluation on the acres of land used for placing utility poles. The question now to be decided, the report stated, is the dollar value of ' these benefits that flowed to Vepco and to compare them with the dollar value of the previous lower rates.
