historic meet
The Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection will hold another in a series of quarterly program meetings at the Courthouse in Washington on Friday, December 6 at 8 p.m. Everyone interested in history and its preservation is invited.
Featured speaker will be Rae H. Ely, leader in the successful fight thus far to preserve the Green Springs area of Louisa County from a major prison facility and from mineral mining. Beginning the program will be a slide presentation of pre-1800 homes in Rappahannock presented by the local Bi-Centennial Steering Committee.
Mrs. Ely’s presentation will be illustrated and center around historic designations and their importance to landscape protection. Dorothy Davis will present the local slides and ask everyone attending to contribute their knowledge of historic Rappahannock structures.□
