rne CiarKe-MCNary appropriation for Virginia amounted to $565,000. This is approximately one-fifth of the forest fire control funds expended by Virginia this year. The amount of Federal funding through the ClarkeMcNary Act is determined by the amount of state monies expended for forest fire control.
“As a result of the support of the many Governors and General Assembly through the years, Virginia has been able to develop an effective forest fire control organization. This has made investment in Virginia’s forest resource by industry and private citizens a profitable enterprise which has benefited the entire economy of the Commonwealth,” concluded Custard. □
