Superintendent Robert R. Jacobsen recently presented James R. (Bob) Johnson, Supervisory Park Ranger of Shenandoah National Park’s North District, a $200 Special Achievement Award under the Incentive Awards > Program of the U.S. Department of the Interior. The recommendation for the award was based on his outstanding service during the period March 31 - May 16, 1974, when the Chief Park Ranger was attending the FBI National Academy, and the Assistant Chief Ranger position was vacant. During that period, Ranger Johnson discharged many of the important functions of their positions, in addition to those of his own as North District Ranger. Bob is a native of Rappahannock County and is married to the former Stella Dennis of Flint Hill. They have two sons, Dennis and Jamie, and live at Park Residential Area.
