RAPPAHANNOCK’S Supervisors stood firm at their meeting October 2 in opposition to chairman Pete Luke’s suggestion that the county building inspector be authorized to do his job.
“I think we’re telling the people of Rappahannock enough already,” Clarence Baldwin said. “If someone’s willing to tie up $50,000 with a contractor that won’t do the job right, it’s their own fault. They should have checked up on him before,” Baldwin said.
Pete Luke said he wasn’t as worried about local people as the “people from away from here” who build in Rappahannock. Some have really been “taken” by contractors who did “shoddy” work, he said.
