THE Washington Volunteer Fire Department will initiate a fund drive this week in support of the activities of this organization. Between now and December 1, every household in the area served by the WFVD will be contacted personally and asked to contribute to this drive.
Because of the building under construction which will ultimately cost $40,000 to $45,000 and the necessity of updating the department’s equipment, ($8,500 were spent this year and the needs are still great) the need for funds is particularly high at this time.
“Because of the great amount of time and effort by members themselves put into answering calls, obtaining training, maintaining equipment, operating fund raising affairs and building the new fire house, the department feels justified in asking your support,” said a department officer.
