A State Champion Pear Tree has been located in Amissville and is recorded on the Virginia Social Register of Trees by Virginia Forests, Inc., Richmond. The tree located on Route 211 west of Amissville borders the Mitchell Green property which was taken for future highway right-of-way. The tree is about 40 feet high with a 34 foot spread and measures 6 feet in circumference. What the fate of the tree will be when the road is eventually made a dual lane highway remains to be seen.
