FARMLAND preservation will be the subject of a conference sponsored by the RappahannockRapidan Planning District Commission, with the cooperation of the Piedmont Environmental Council of Warrenton and the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University Extension Service. The Virginia Farm Bureau will be invited to participate, and serve as sponsors if they desire, according to Kenneth Oestreich, land use planner for the regional planning district.
At the Planning District Commission’s meeting Thursday night, December 11, Oestreich’s plans for the regional farming conference were endorsed by the commissioners . January 23 has been set as the date of tne conference, which will probably take place at the Holiday Inn in Culpeper, Oestreich said. The District land use planner hopes conference participants will turn their attention to the local aspects of farmland preservation problems and solutions. The conference will be open to the public.
