Surprise dinner
Members of the Washington Ladies Auxiliary were honored with a surprise dinner December 15 given by the men of the Fire Company and Rescue Squad. The men prepared the served the dinner which was a gesture to show their appreciation for the support which these women give all year.
Cooks included Brad Fisher, Kermit Weakley, Jackie Estes, Jennings Hobson, Bobby Brown and Ed Clark. Ladies attending were Frances Foster, Ruth Ann Eastham, Ruth Clark, Pauline Bruce, Etta Estes, Ethel Bailey and Sarah Brown.
Among the projects undertaken by the ladies group are the Thrift Slop and cakeless bake sale and they gave a banquet each year for the firemen, usually presenting them with a sizeable check.□
