SPERRYVILLE CARNIVAL
Sperryville Fire Department has announced the dates for the annual fund-raising carnival to be July 21, 22, 23 and 24. A parade will be featured on Thursday evening of that week and prizes will be awarded at the Saturday night conclusion of the event.
Students excel
A NUMBER fo Rappahannock students have been cited for academic and athletic honors following the completion of the second trimester at Randolph - Macon Aca - demy in Front Royal.
Two county students, Mary Brooke Massie and Charles Browning Swaim, were among the 18 Academy students named to the Special Honor Roll for Scholastic Excellence announced by Col. D. E. Sellers, Dean of Students at the Academy. Both attained a 3.83 grade-point average on a 4.00 scale.
Lindsay Willoughby-Green Eastham, Cristine Kay Kuhn, Howard Robert Swaim, and Gregory Whitney Swaim were among those awarded Second Honor Roll recognition with academic averages of 2.74-3.59.
RAPPAHANNOCK students awarded varsity monograms or junior-sport emblems at the recent Winter Sports Assembly were Miss Massey as manager of the varsity swimming team, Charles and Howard Swaim as members of the junior varsity basketball team, Mike Williams as a JV basketball player, and Lindsay Eastham as a member of the eighth-grade basketball team. •<
