CATTLE—Feeder cattle posted a downturn during the week ended March 26 after three consecutive weeks of gains. Feeder cattle receipts at southeastern markets were near 37,600, the most since early January, as compared with 30,300 the previous week and 32,500 a year ago. As compared with last week, feeder steers were weak to $1 lower, steer claves $1 to $2 lower, heifers steady to $1 lower and heifer calves steady to $2 lower.
In representative sales around the Southeast, Choice 200 to 400 pound steer calves sold at $32 to $41, some weights under 400 pounds as low as $30 in Florida and a few as high as $43 in South Carolina. Steer calves 400 to 500 pounds,
