Miss Ruth Ellen Campbell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Muriel Campbell of The Plains, became the bride of James Gregory Poe of Amissville April 10, 1976. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James R. Poe and the grandson of Mrs. John Poe of Amissville. His maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Kilby of Culpeper.
The marriage was performed by the Rev. Joseph Williams in the Warrenton United Methodist Church at seven o’clock in the evening.
The marriage took place in the Warrenton United Methodist Church at seven o’clock in the evening with the pastor, the Rev. Joseph Williams and the Rev. William A. Layman of West Point officiating in a candlelight setting.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a formal gown of white organza with an empire bodice of Chantilly lace trimmed in pearls and a A-line skirt edged in a deep ruffle of Chantilly lace. Her elbow length veil was of Chantilly lace and she carried a cascade of white roses and baby’s breath centered with violets.
Maid of honor was Miss Valerie Wood of Nokesville who wore a long gown of blue floral organza and a picture hat with matching streamers. Her flowers were daisies.
Bridesmaids were Mrs. Faye Simmons of The Plains, Teresa Poe of Amissville, Pam Campbell of Warrenton and Becky Wood of Nokesville. Their long gowns were pastel shades of green, maize, blue and orchid chiffon and they wore matching hats. They carried bouquets of daisies matching their dresses.
SPRING FESTIVAL
The PTCA of the Virginia School for the Deaf at Staunton will hold a Spring Festival, Saturday, May 1 from 11 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. at the school. There will be door prizes, train rides, games, crafts, refreshments and a bake sale. Entertainment will be provided by the students of VSD and the Bluegrass Blues.□
