THERE is no new county office building in Rappahannock’s immediate future if the Board of Supervisors follow the recommendations of the Space Study Committee. Instead, as an interim solution to the space problem, the Committee voted to recommend that offices be moved into buildings already owned by the county.
“There’s room there. It’s just a matter of someone putting it together,” said Walter Masterson, who with A. H. Kiser and Carson Johnson had investigated the space needs of the county constitutional offices and concluded that an immediate solution would be to use the jail building near the Court House.
The jail includes living quarters for the jailer and his family. Fanning Baumgardner said the two rooms upstairs and two downstairs . measured approximately 12 by 14 square feet. The building also has a large basement used by the present occupants as additional living quarters, according to Masterson.
