attunuiPKi 10 HIGH SCHOOL principal Dennis Wingfield, the opening of the 1976-77 school year in Rappahannock was excellent. Everything was well planned and. organized and much summer ground work had been done by the teaching staff. Student organization and cooperation was gratifying,” he said.

“Enrollment at .the high school was 455, and probably will pick “P. * lit*1® after the Labor Day holiday. It usually does,” said Wingfield, who added, “We have 20 transfer students; students who have come here from other schools. Enrollment is a little below last year. However, that is the expected trend.” Opening day enrollment at the Rappahannock County Elementary School was 701. All week, though, more students are registering and another influx is expected after Labor Day. Another count will be made next Tuesday, according to Mrs. Mary Edna Schaffer, school secretary. She added that everything had gone quietly during the opening days. Remedial reading laboratories are in operation at both schools. These classes are to assist students who have not reached their potential in reading, to do so.
