CiUUUl • A I was pleased to note the editorial in a recent edition of the News on the subject of agriculture as an important industry in Virginia. Citizens of our Commonwealth tend to overlook this. In addition, many Virginians are largely unaware of the forest products industry, which is second only to agriculture in this state.
Virginia is fortunate to have such industries as an economic base. This is especially true in Rappahannock County, where residents are working for the preservation of the rural atmosphere, environmental quality, and natural beauty of the countryside.
When practiced in the proper manner, the production of timber and farm products can provide employment and economic prosperity without the unspeakable environmental degredation which is
