THE Rappahannock County Recreation Center Association has started the ball rolling to request a government grant to build all the remaining facilities planned for the Rec Center site on Route 211 near Washington. The Association’s executive committee approved the action at its meeting Monday night, December 6, according to Association President T. Granville Eastham.
Two meetings to solicit public reaction to the proposal will be held at the county courthouse at 1 p.m. Monday, December 13, and at 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 14. All interested persons are invited to either meeting.
The decision to apply for a federal grant was based on research at both the county and federal levels, and discussions with officials at Planning District 9. The county Board of Supervisors has endorsed the concept, said Eastham.
