THE Rappahannock Board of Zoning Appeals will issue a ruling Thursday on the special use permit application from Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Updike to operate a privately owned landfill within an agricultural zone.
The Updike’s Community Trash Service was the low bidder on the county’s trash disposal and won a three-year contract awarded by the Supervisors in August. The Updike’s intended at that time to use the Orange County landfill to dispose of the refuse but were underbid on the Orange contract. Subsequently, the Orange Board of Supervisors notified the Updikes that the landfill there would be closed to them in 90 days’ time.
